Occuring in downtown Atlanta, it features a parade on Saturday the 4th, which will be on Peachtree Street, downtown. An Art Show, which will be held in the Grand Hall of the Hyatt Regency Hotel. There will be a plethora of fans who dress up as their favorite science fiction or fantasy character. The full event list can be found at http://www.dragoncon.org/events.php
There will also be numerous authors present including Jim Butcher (who pens the Harry Dresden series) and his wife Shannon, who writes a new paranormal romance series, Diana Gabaldon, the author of the OUTLANDER novels which I have read them all and they are a fantastic series of novels. Laurell K. Hamilton, creator of the “Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter” Series. One of my favortite actors, Sean Astin, who played Samwise Gamgee in the Lord of the Rings, is scheduled to appear along with Scott Bakula, Tia Carrere, and Summer Glau of the Firefly, Serentity and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Choronicles. Originally started back in 1987 as a local science fiction and gaming group, DragonCon has grown into what it is today, a huge convention where fans of Scifi can gather, talk to their favorite celebrities, have their picture taken with them. This is going to be my first time at DC and I am excited to meet Diane Gabaldon, I really want to know when the next book in the Outlander series is coming out.
If you’re a fan of DragonCon, share you’re favorite experience here on the blog, we’d love to hear all about it.

What do you think about the “PeachPass?”
Posted on August 30, 2010 · 1 Comment
We all know that traffic in Atlanta is frustrating and that’s being kind. I have sat in traffic for hours, and I know I am not the only one. Now, the Georgia DOT and the Governor’s office have given the green light on a new idea, a way to get through those high traffic spots on the freeways that cause us, the drivers, heartburn. The “PeachPass” will be a pre paid electronic card that you can use on the HOV lanes that will act as a toll. This will allow single as well as double occupancy vehicles to get through the hot spot areas of Atlanta and get to work or any other special event, on time, without the hassle of having to sit all day in traffic. I think this is a great idea, having to drive myself to work every day, getting stuck in traffic is a nightmare. This idea will relieve some of the pressure off the roads.
What do you think? Will the “PeachPass” be successful? Will you use it?

Every day should be National Dog Day, because if you’re an animal lover, then you know what it means to care for you’re special furry friend. We should celebrate our dogs, as they are a part of our families, here are some ways you can do this on National Dog Day.
- Get those extra special treats. You know nothing will make your dog happier than a treat.
- More belly rubs than usual. I know my dog goes crazy when she gets those.
- Treat your dog to a spa day. As a dog owner myself, I love it when my dog gets to do it, she loves all that attention.
However, you decide to make your dog’s day special, you know that your special friend will love every minute of it.
Here is the address and directions for Furside Pet Grooming. It’s about 7 minutes from 626 Dekalb.

Rocking out at the Ampitheater Saturday night
Posted on August 23, 2010 · Leave a Comment
Maroon 5 blasted their way on to the stage at the Verizon Ampitheater, Saturday night and if you were one of the 12,000 people, as I was, lucky enough to see them live, then congratulations! This was the concert of the year, for me. I have been a fan for the past 9 years, back when they were Kara’s Flowers. And I have never seen them live before. They had two opening acts, British singing sensation V.V. Brown, who I thought has a bit of an Amy Winehouse flavor to her. Then American Idol Winner Kris Allen, took the stage and he rocked the house down. I was pleasantly surprised by him and I have to say, I have become quite a fan. Under rain and some lightening in the sky, Maroon 5 took the stage a little after 9pm to thunderous applause. Starting their set with their new hit single “Misery” the boys continued to delight the crowd with some of their favorite hits and some new stuff off their new album. “Hands All Over.” I was not disappointed at all by the concert and will most definitley be seeing the five boys from L.A again, next time they are in town.
Welcome Derrek Lee
Posted on August 19, 2010 · Leave a CommentThe Atlanta Braves have scored the biggest hit of the season. They have acquired Chicago Cubs first baseman, Derrek Lee. Lee three time winner of the Golden Glove Award will join the Braves at the game against the Cubs at Wrigley Field. He will replace Troy Glaus for the rest of the season due to an injury. This is a win-win move by the Braves, Lee has an impressive record, last season he had 35 home runs and 111 RBI’s.
So what do you think? Will the addition of Lee be a asset for the Braves? Leave a comment and share you’re thoughts.
If you had to pay for it, would you?
Posted on August 16, 2010 · Leave a CommentI was reading an article today about The Times of London and how they have lost 1.2 million online readers because the newspaper restructured and split the paper into two other newspapers. The problem is, that they are now charging subscribers a fee to access the online content. And in doing so, people are just not renewing their subscriptions and going to other sites and sources for their information. My question to you, is, in this same situation, would you still pay for your online news, knowing you could get the same information for free, elsewhere?

Country Stars last Rodeo
Posted on August 9, 2010 · Leave a CommentBrooks and Dunn, multi platinum country stars are calling it quits. After over 30 years together, they have decided to go their seperate ways. They have had decades of great music, having sold more records than any other country artists to date. Their Last Rodeo Tour is in full swing and they are performing to sold out venues all over the country. We are lucky because they are coming here to Atlanta, August 22, 2010 to the Lakewood Ampitheater. I already have my tickets for their last tour and am really excited to see them. Sad, that this is their last Rodeo, but they leave behind a legacy of fantastic music.
This is going to be funny!
Posted on August 6, 2010 · Leave a CommentWill Ferrel and Mark Wahlberg make their comedy debut as two cops who couldn’t be more different. They have a problem getting along and this mismatch makes for a very funny movie.

Are you a list maker?
Posted on August 2, 2010 · Leave a CommentI don’t know about you, but I make lists for everything. I have to collect and organize my thoughts according to what I have to do. My biggest list is my ‘to do’ list. At least twice a week, I make this list and organize it according to priority. This helps me keep my apartment neat and tidy and most of all organized. Here are some of my tips that I use to keep my life uncluttered.
- Create a list that better suits your lifestyle.
- I have a list for each member of my family. I find it easier to keep the kids organized if they have a list of things for them to do.
- Take the time to put things on your list that are things you do every week.
- One thing that I do is when I have made the lists for the kids, I hang it on a board in the kitchen and they check off what they have done. This way they don’t forget and do the chore over again, well, I am optimistic that they would do it again!
What are some things you do to organize your apartment? Share them here on the blog or you can connect with us on Facebook.
